Cathy Holt
Born into a musical Mornington Peninsula family, Cathy has been immersed in music making from a very young age. During the 1970’s her family hosted weekly workshops in their home, where local children would gather with their instruments across every room of the house to form small ensembles. Cathy worked her way up the ranks from banging a drum at the age of 5 to the recorder, then eventually taking up the violin at the age of 8.
Studying violin with Brian Blake, Cathy went on to a complete a Bachelor of Music Education. Later she undertook further study with Nathan Gutman while working as a freelance violinist and teacher.
In 1999 Cathy took up the position of Director of Music at Woodleigh School where she remained for 27 years. Still passionate about music education, she is now semi-retired and enjoying having more time for playing, travel and family.
