Marney Pope

Flute

Marney's musical journey began in Grade 6 when she first picked up the flute, quickly developing a passion that would shape both her career and a lifelong love of music. She continued her studies throughout her school years before pursuing tertiary education at both the University of Melbourne and the Victorian College of the Arts, where she completed Bachelor of Music degrees in both Performance and Education.

Marney has appeared with many groups including the Australian Wind Symphonia, Melbourne City Opera, Grainger Symphony and many other smaller ensembles. She is currently the principal flautist with Mornington Peninsula Chamber Orchestra.

Passionate about the importance of music education, Marney has a particular interest in how music education enhances student growth, engagement and achievement. This passion led her to complete a Master of Gifted Education, further strengthening her ability to support and inspire learners. Currently employed at Woodleigh School, Marney works as a flute specialist and classroom music educator. She also coaches debating, public speaking and coordinating many other extension programs.
