Michael Powell

Michael Powell is a versatile musician and building professional whose career spans both the performing arts and construction.

Michael began his musical journey at a young age on the recorder before receiving a scholarship to Peninsula Grammar, where he studied oboe, violin and piano. It was the oboe that ultimately captured his passion, leading him to pursue orchestral performance.

He now performs professionally with Melbourne Opera and has taken part in a number of major productions, including Wagner’s monumental Ring Cycle.

Away from the concert hall, Michael works in the building industry, specialising in insurance-related construction and restoration. His diverse career reflects a lifelong passion for creativity, craftsmanship and the challenge of mastering very different disciplines.
